Introducing Classic Canes
Ben and Diana Porter moved to Warren House in Somerset in the late 70s, where they discovered the woodland nearby were perfect for growing the raw materials required for walking sticks. This included wood such as Ash, Chestnut, Hazel and Blackthorn. The Porter’s went on to establish Classic Canes in 1982, where they started by selling a small range of walking sticks to local shops, and soon found demand increasing.

Our Top Picks

Navy & White Floral Extending Petite Walking Cane
Designed with ladies in mind, the Navy and White Floral Petite Walking Stick is high quality and incredibly stylish. An aluminium shaft wrapped in a sealed patterned fabric means the walking stick is lightweight, yet pleasing to the eye. The walking stick is finished with a peachy-cream acrylic handle that feels wonderfully smooth in anyone’s palm.
Although lightweight, the walking cane is sturdy and durable, which ensures reliable support. A non-slip rubber ferrule enables a safe grip on the majority of surfaces. The aluminium shaft can also be adjusted from 67cm to 90cm in order to suit the user’s height, which is perfect if you are not sure how tall your walking stick should be, or if you are buying this cane as a gift.
Hazel Cane – Labrador
This faithful depiction of a Labrador is perfect for any dog lover! The head is made from tough resin and is hand painted for a quality finish. Mounted on a long hazel shaft, and finished with a metal ferrule, this luxury cane is perfect for walking, hiking, shooting, and even formal occasions. Also available in Pheasant.
Chestnut Hiking Staff – Pheasant or Labrador Motif
Made out of beautiful chestnut wood, this sturdy everyday hiking staff is perfect for lovers of the outdoors. The staff features a Combi-spike ferrule, a rubber ferrule fitted over a metal and plastic ferrule, which allows the staff to be used on both hard and soft ground. The staff is finished with a laser engraved motif of either a pheasant or a Labrador.
Shepherds Crook – Chestnut (Scorched, Double Spiral)
This long crook is very long, and ideal for any country occasion. A definite talking point, this beautifully crafted crook is made from chestnut wood, and has been steamed into the traditional shepherd’s crook shape. The deep brown colour of the crook is a result of scorching, which provides a contrast with the two parallel carved spirals. The crook is finished with a plain, metal ferrule.
Adjustable Black Polo Shooting Stick Seat
Traditional shooting sticks aren’t equipped to help you rest when you need a break, for example if you have reduced mobility, dizzy spells, or are just tired. However, the Adjustable Black Polo Shooting Stick Seat is both a seat and a stick, allowing you to rest on the mobility aid’s seat whenever necessary.
